Traffic and competition , do they feature in terms of  keyword searches on Google?

Interesting, we’ll soon find out for now let us get back to what we covered in part 1 & 2

In part one we identified that the market you select and they keywords your target are 2 of the the most important factors when doing keyword searches on Google.

We also mentioned that there are four rules which are often overlooked or forgotten by network marketers and they are
1. Relevance
2. Traffic
3. Competition
4. Commerciality

We discussed relevance keywords and how to apply this to your niche and content which ensures not only that you have a well visited site but a profitable one to.

Today we’ll be covering:

Traffic and Competition

When I started out I was as surprised as most people to learn that in most niches over 90% of all keywords have very low levels of traffic levels of traffic and are not really worth spending a lot of time and effort on. So many people when starting in their Internet business, target keywords at random and then find themselves disappointed when they receive little or no traffic to their website.

What we need to do is to zero in on the minority of keywords in your niche that do have significant levels of traffic.
People searching for keywords search different and many will choose to venture into the #1 ranked website. A smaller percentage of people will choose to explore the #2 ranked website and so on.

Market Samurai,a useful tool which helps analyse the 4 rules when doing keyword searches on Google mentions that the average breakdown of these percentages is as follows:

The number 1 ranked website receives 42% of clicks
The number 2 ranked website receives 12% of clicks
The number 3 ranked website receives 8% of clicks
And the remaining clicks are shared between all the other sites listed in Google.

What this means is that even if you are the number 1 ranked website in google for a particular keyword, there is a big difference between the number of people who search for a phrase and the number of people who will actually click through and visit your website.If you are involved in internet marketing or network marketing you will have realised by now that on the best ways to gain steady stream of traffic to your website is to find yourself on the a front page ranking in Google for particular keyword phrases.

One of the biggest challenges we then face is that if there is only 10 listings on the front page of Google and there are many competitors who also want to be in the running for these 10 positions

This brings to our third rule in keyword searches on Google and that is;

The amount of Competition and
The strength of the competition.

Clearly you should target the keyword phrase that is less competitive because you will have a much better chance to obtain a front page listing in Google which will lead to a steady stream of traffic and hopefully a steady stream of sales.

In our 1st blog post we mentioned that people fail because they rush in with no concept of who they are targeting and what keyword is relevant to their niche, in the same breathe we can say that many also fail as a result of not taking the time to assess the level and strength of the competition associated with the keyword searches on Google they are targeting.

Many new entrepreneurs entering the industry just climb into a niche market blindly and start creating content. They then hope that Google will somehow come across their site and magically give them a front page ranking. This does not happen often, as a matter of fact – virtually never.
Sad, as many people work really hard to build a wonderful website, taking pride in what they do and yet they receive little to no traffic, simply because the niche that they have entered in to is too competitive and too strong.

Achieving real success online is to quickly learn how to assess your competition and then do keyword searches on Google that have a good chance of achieving a front page ranking.

Take my advice, it’s free for now. And assess the competition in your market before you create your online business, you can save yourself months and even years of hard work and frustration. Implementing the correct methods to do keyword searches on Google can add quite a few pennies to the bottom line when done correctly.
