Pull vs Push Marketing Strategies, Create A Successful Online Home Business.

Hey, It’s me again – I have been productively b.u.s.y and have neglected my blogging duties horribly this week.

Has this ever happened to you? Well I do hope you say so , it will make me feel less guilty at not achieving my blogging goals or keeping to my blogging strategy,  as many know – I do like to believe that consistency is key to building a successful home business.

So let’s get on with today’s topic.

Pull vs Push marketing strategies and how they can create a successful online home business.

So, why this topic? Well I was asked today about this and it got me thinking and researching as I always do, what the difference is between push and pull marketing strategies and how we can apply this to create an attractive and profitable home business – Please understand that when I mention successful home business this also applies to any business whether an online internet network marketing business or offline type business. This strategy works equally well in all forms of business where “selling” to client is involved.

So to understand the difference between a push and a pull strategy the look at an explanation of the two

Push Marketing;

Push marketing is when you use various activities to get your message in front of your ideal client. The marketer is in control of what the message is, how it is seen, when and where.

Pull Marketing;

Marketing activities that encourage your prospect to seek you out and find out whether you have something of value to offer them. Pull marketing activities build relationships and can include blogging, podcasting, article marketing and networking (both on and offline). Pull marketing uses  attraction marketing, incorporating all the components of your personal brand to attract and retain these people as your biggest fans.

In today’s day and age, social media has made a huge impact on how people search out information, services and products and we understand from the above that a push marketing strategy is no longer as effective and potential client and prospects are becoming more sophisticated in their buying strategy and also where they hang out.

The key to using a Pull Marketing strategy is not that we are pulling them in  ( the prospect toward us ) but rather us giving them a reason, an opportunity to pull us in and engaging us in a certain manner on social media platforms that draws us into their close knit circle.

In fact, Pull marketing is based on the principle of building a relationship with your potential client.

How do you do this,  Pull marketing strategy?

Firstly – It is imperative to identify your ideal client and also determine where they hang out ( Facebook, Twitter , Google , Forums, etc ) then to get your ideal client to discover you, develop a marketing plan that combines a strong personal brand and word of mouth marketing tactics (both online and offline) to increase your exposure as an expert in your discipline. This will help you attract them to you and make them your true fans. ( quote from ~ Debra Murphy, Masterful Marketing )

Once you understand the concept of attraction marketing you will soon realise that this is in fact a lot easier than trying to sell a product, service or opportunity to anyone and can result in increased profits and a successful business online or offline.

    Brenda, this is the big difference between just throwing your marketing out there and hoping that something will stcik and actually targeting your ideal prospect and giving them a reason to come to you. I never thought about attraction marketing in the pull vs push marketing but it is completely true. Pull marketing is attraction marketing. Thanks for a great article.:)
